This new design is much more challenging to craft than the previous version because the end of the elastic tube lacks a nail closure design. If the head of the nail is polished too much, it can result in perforations or even hollowing out. The most difficult part of this craftsmanship lies in the tail of the nail in the elastic tube and the precision of the five lines at the front and back of the nail head. If the pressure is too great, it will pierce through the material. If too light, it won't replicate the feel of the original piece. 

To master this technique, we consulted with one of the first generations of jewelry artisans from the 1980s. They were part of the original team that learned jewelry making from the British and then brought the skills to Hong Kong before spreading them to mainland China. These early experts have unparalleled craftsmanship and passed on their skills to the next generation of artisans.
